The Rotary year 2010-11 will remain in my memory for long and also in the minds of many Rotarians for the involvement we had. I am happy that I could serve as District Director Community Services and RI Priorities under the able leadership of our beloved Governor G V. I sincerely thank Governor GV for giving me this great opportunity to serve the less fortunate ones of the Society through 108 Rotary Clubs in our Rotary Dist 3201. I am proud to state that as District Director I had achieved more than I targeted at the beginning of the year. In my own humble way I could motivate the Clubs to scale new heights in Service. The details given under will definitely testify my humble achievements in Office.
· All Clubs put together spend approx Rs 7 Crores worth of Projects for the underprivileged.
· It directly benefited more than 70000 people
· I participated in most of the Projects & Programs in the District, to be precise 306 of them, from 1st July 2010 to 27th June 2011
· I had proposed one novel idea to all the rural and urban clubs to match each other for good projects. But it could become a reality with the support of our Governor GV through District Simplified Grant. Other Mega projects were supported by the Governor from the DDF. I would advice all the new Leaders of the Clubs to carry out good projects in the ensuing year also as Twinning Projects involving urban and rural Clubs. It will help Rotary to get more visibility and respect all over the District. More over the bondage between the Rotarians will also grow for better.
· We could conduct a workshop, ‘V CARE V SHARE’ on Community Service Projects & RI Priorities at Ankamali and 400 Rotarians attended it. We also released a Booklet on 5 Project Ideas (a Handbook on Community Services & RI Priorities) as well
· We could conduct a workshop on Cancer Care Program and more than 200 Rotary Volunteers attended it. We also released a Booklet on Cancer Awareness on the occasion. We also conducted a seminar on Cancer Care at Muvattupuzha in which 2000 people from various walks of life participated.
· We had a Polio plus Awareness Program as Road Show throughout the District for 10 days which concluded with the District Conference. Through our Road Show we could publicize the involvement of Rotary in eradicating Polio and related diseases. More than 4 to 5 Lakhs people attended the Mega Flower Show of RC Coimbatore Uptown and the Polio Awareness Road Show made great impact over there. We had our road show program throughout the district COIMBATORE,PALGHAT,TRICHUR,ERNAKULAM,IDDUKKI.Congrats to my friend RtnDr Prakash chandran for your dedicated service
· We had organized Polio Orientation Seminars in Cochin and Coimbatore.
· Throughout the District we could do projects on Reducing Child Mortality, Alleviation of Hunger, Supporting Students for Literacy, Safe Drinking Water projects etc.
All these good things happened because of the Teamwork. Sincere Rotary spirit, integrity, love, compassion, positive attitude are all the ingredients for the success of these Rotary Programs. KUDOS to Presidents, Secretaries, various Project Chairmen, Assistant Governors, GGRs, other District Officials, especially the Dist Secretariat Team for getting things done within the time frame very emphatically.
Friends, I am sure, your participation and support for the success of the Community & RI Priorities Projects will be rewarded by the prayers and good wishes of the Beneficiaries. In fact whatever you have done for others you have really done it for yourself.
I wish you Godspeed and all the very best in all your activities in the new Rotary year so that Rotary and District Governor Rtn B Jayarajan will be glorified. Let us be an Example and do it once again.
